Clan History

One of the oldest known shinobi clans, the Iga can trace their history all the way back to the 5th century. In that time they have become one of the strongest ninja bloodlines in the Land of Earth, and have much influence over the policies that are forged within its borders. Their success has come at great cost however, as they are still recovering from a devastating betrayal from their past.

This betrayal came in 1481, when the Oda Clan launched a seemingly unprovoked attack on the Iga in an attempt to stamp them out. This attack came at a difficult time for the Iga, as they were right in the middle of negotiating an arranged marriage and merger with another shinobi clan, the Koga. Not all of the Koga were happy with this however, and had secretly gone against their leader's wishes and allied themselves with the Oda. Aiding in their attack by laying in wait along the Iga's secret paths, and mercilessly attacking any they caught trying to escape the battle. After ruthlessly slaughtering great numbers of the inhabitants of the Iga region, the Oda then declared a cease-fire which allowed some of the Iga ninja to escape their sights.

Hoping to mend the bridges that had been burned by his Clan's unsolicited actions, the head of the Koga dispatched envoys to the Iga in the hopes of salvaging the marriage. The Iga would have none of it however, and slaughtered the envoys in cold blood before sending their heads back as a message. This state of distrust lasted for several decades, until the time that the betrothed had become the heads of their respective Clans and sought to again make peace by offering their grandchildren up for marriage. Again it was not meant to be however, as members of the Iga remembered the Koga's betrayal and were out for blood. Following a bloody coup within the Iga ranks, the new head of the Clan dispatched assassins to the marriage negotiations and had everyone present killed as a message to any that would dare oppose his wishes.

Since then the Iga and the Koga have been bitter enemies, the former having standing order to kill the latter on sight unless under the strictest orders from the Shucho.

Description:
Onton :: Sound Release is an advanced chakra nature. It is utilized by simultaneously activating both the Wind and Yin Chakra Natures. Sound is formed by the oscillation of pressure through a medium, usually air. Applying the form creating aspect of Yin Release to Wind Release acts in a way to change the nature of the wind into vibrating waves and pitches that debilitate, hypnotize, and ultimately render the targets immobile.
